Mixing

Mixing is the process of blending two or more materials together to meet required specifications.

Why Mixing?

The specification of aggregate for concrete or paving applications often requires the blending of aggregate from different sources. This can be accomplished with equipment that delivers continuous and consistent mixing of the two or more materials. Mixing is typically required in hot-mix and cold-mix asphalt, road base and soil remediation projects. It is also used for blending fly ash from flue gas desulfurization processes with additives for use as landfill.

Benefits of Mixing

Mixing allows for the consistent blend of two or more materials at controlled proportions and rates into a homogenous product. Proper blending and optimum moisture content mean quick compaction. This is especially beneficial in road construction applications, where the quality of the subbase is imperative for the strength, durability and drainage.
